Chaz Bono’s appearance on the Dancing With the Stars reality television show sparked controversy earilier this year. Even though socially conservative pundits and Doctor Keith Ablow chided the son of Cher and Sonny Bono for appearing on the show, others showed their support. Many individuals ignored the debate entirely. Chaz Bono did not receive GLAAD media awards for his work on Dancing With the Stars, but he did win an award for his work on the documentary Becoming Chaz, according to the Washington Post.

Tony Perkins, head of the Family Research Council, stated that the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell led to the prostitution scandal in Columbia. The long segment occurred on the Janet Mefferd radio show. Right Wing Watch, an organization that monitors the activities of the Religious Right, provided a transcript of the relevant segment. Mefferd and Perkins discussed the inevitable nomination of Mitt Romney.

Pennsylvania’s primaries will be held next week. Rick Santorum, former Pennsylvania senator, dropped out of the race. LGBT residents of Pennsylvania have watched some strange things happen this year. Santorum, who was backed by Rick Perry, has withdrawn from the race. Gingrich, Romney and Paul remain in the race. Romney, who is the perceived nominee, has the potential to be the candidate who is friendliest to LGBT causes.

Father Marcel Guamzio was placed on administrative leave by the Washington archdiocese. Father Guamzio was replaced on leave, after refusing to offer communion to Barbara Johnson because she “lives in sin with another woman”.

Compton's Cafe lost data recently. A problem with the database created problems with our Drupal installation. Although back ups were available, the database files were corrupted. Administrators started with a fresh Drupal installation.

Some of these stories have been restored, but most were lost. New backup procedures have been put in place. While this is inconvenient to regular users, the overall data loss was small and none of the other sites on the server were affected.

At least Rick Perry is no longer in the race.

LGBT individuals who live on the streets are more likely to slip through the cracks than other individuals. Youth who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Transgender face a high risk of being kicked out of their homes by their parents. Many LGBT Youth are forced to leave their house before their eighteenth birthdays.

The Obama administration attempted to address this problem by holding an LGBT homeless conference. Detroit hosted the conference, which addressed issues related to LGBT housing and how to improve homeless services.
